C.Jean Blain
Writer, Educator & Storyteller
C.Jean Blain is many things; an educator; a writer; a performer but above all she is a storyteller. Whether writing fiction or poetry, she uses words to paint a picture of the way things are, once were, or maybe one day could be. Her work is mostly shaped by the stories and legacies that she has witnessed and those she has inherited. As an educator, she uses her experience, passion, and creativity to build bridges between what is occurring in our global society and its relevance to our local communities and personal reality.
C.Jean Blain is a founding member of Dubai SpeakEasy, Write Hard, an inclusive women’s writing and performance collective, and a co-curator for Cultivating Content, Craft and Conversation, a literary round table. She has received residencies and fellowships from Hedgebrook, the National Endowment for Humanities (NEH), VONA Voices, and Dream Yard. Her work can be found in Tribes Magazine, Sukoon Magazine of Arab themed Art & Literature, Gumbo Magazine, NYU Abu Dhabi's Electra Street Journal, and elsewhere.
She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration, a Bachelor’s degree in cultural studies, and an advanced certificate in Non-Profit leadership and management. Currently, she lives in and works from New York.
